Before you call

Three checks that might save you a call-out

1

Check the street

If the neighbours are dark too, it is probably an Ergon outage. Check the Ergon outage map or call Ergon on 13 22 96.

2

Check the board

If a safety switch or breaker has tripped, unplug everything on that circuit and reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off.

3

Burning, smoke or buzzing?

Turn off the main switch, keep clear and call Kelly now.

Still stuck? Kelly talks you through it on the phone first. If it is a simple reset or an Ergon fault, he tells you, so you do not pay for a visit you do not need.

How a call-out works

Phone triage first

Kelly works out over the phone whether you need a sparky, Ergon or just a reset. Reviewers describe faults sorted over the phone at no charge.

2

Call-out quoted upfront

The call-out fee for your area is confirmed on the phone before Kelly leaves, so there are no surprises on the invoice. Parts and extra time are quoted before he keeps going.

3

Found, fixed and explained

Common call-outs

If it has stopped working, call

Power out

Found at the board or the circuit, or logged with Ergon if it is on their side of the meter.

Safety switch will not reset

The cause found and fixed, not just a new switch fitted over the problem.

Burning smell, buzzing or heat

Made safe first, then repaired properly.

Flickering lights or a dead circuit

Traced and repaired so it does not come back next week.

Storm or water damage

Power checked and made safe before it goes back on.

Small jobs this week

A power point, a light, a fan, a hot water fault. Grouped with nearby jobs to keep the call-out reasonable.

Amazing customer service. Complete power outage on a Sunday. Arrived within 15 minutes of my call. Identified the cause and arranged Ergon to replace the fuse as it was an Ergon fault. He clearly explained everything so I understood and reassured if I had any issues to call again and he would come back. Ergon arrived within 15 minutes of him leaving and the power is back on. I highly recommend Electrikell QLD.

Needed a electrician, we had no electricity in part of our house and it was after 5pm on a week night. I found Electrikell on google (kelly) He was here withing the hour. He was amazing. Got us out of a jam he's rates are not over the top. He listened to our problem and found a solution. I can't rate Kelly enough. If anybody needs a electrician do call Kelly you will not regret. 100/100. Thanks Kelly.

Why Kelly

A local sparky who answers his own phone

Kelly from Electrikell Qld in hi-vis working on a roof-mounted hot water unit in the Gladstone region
  • Based in New Auckland, so for most of Gladstone he is minutes away, not an hour.
  • Kelly answers, not a call centre, so you get a sparky's advice in the first minute of the call.
  • Call-out fee confirmed upfront, so you know the cost before he leaves.
  • Deals with Ergon for you when the fault is on their side, so you are not stuck in a phone queue in the dark.
  • Carries common breakers, safety switches, points and cable, so most faults are fixed on the first visit.

Questions

Call-out questions, answered

Do you really answer after hours?

Yes. Reviewers describe Sunday morning, Saturday afternoon and 9pm call-outs. If Kelly is on a job he calls back as soon as he is clear.

How much is a call-out?

Small jobs and call-outs start from around $300. Kelly confirms the call-out fee for your area on the phone before he leaves. Ambrose and Boyne Valley carry a travel surcharge.

What should I check before I call?

The street first (is it an Ergon outage?), then the board. Unplug everything on the tripped circuit and reset once. If it trips again, leave it off and call.

Can you deal with Ergon for me?

Yes. If the fault is on the network side, such as a blown service fuse, Kelly identifies it, logs it with Ergon and makes the house safe until they arrive.

Will it be fixed on the first visit?

Usually. Kelly carries common parts. If something has to be ordered, he makes it safe and comes back.

Is it dangerous to keep resetting the switch?

Yes. A switch that keeps tripping is telling you current is leaking somewhere. Leave it off and call.
